Megalomania

A 20 minute short starring Christopher Biggins filmed in London and East Sussex. Bagging several festival wins and making it to the official selection at the London Short Film Festival, Brighton Rocks, and Cinecity, it now resides online. Please have a watch below.

A drug-fuelled game show and a long lost father are the last glimmers of hope for a young woman named Gene.

In a sarcastic version of our world we follow Gene, a young woman who dreams of dancing but is instead trapped at home by a delusional Mother. However, a once in a lifetime opportunity means Gene finds herself slap bang in the middle of a Dance Marathon Competition, where there is not only the allure of drugs, but also the chance to reconnect with her long lost father.

Myself and the production designer created and developed Megalomania's extensive PR campaign, across Instagram and Kickstarter. As a big fan of immersive marketing, I wanted to bring the dystopian world of Megalomania into real life. We created several assets for Instagram, making full use of its different features to reach our audiences. With the assets, we created the illusion of the dance competition being real life, and something which a viewer could apply to. Complete with application deadlines and a working customer service phone line, we were able to frequently post using this idea, keeping viewers engaged.

For the kickstarter page, we created a short tongue in cheek film with our director Rex Russell, pretending to be a film critic who was reviewing the film itself.
